Missions and Outreach

Food Pantry

We offer an emergency food pantry three times a week. Volunteers help community members shop our shelves. Please contact the church office to learn when you can help. We are always in need of non-perishable food and personal items and welcome donations.

Community Clothing Closet

Each spring we distribute bags to the schools to collect gently use clothing. Then in the fall, we welcome community members to choose needed back-to-school clothing. Contact the church office to learn the dates we will be sorting the collected clothing in the spring and distributing it in the fall.

Open M

We cook and serve meals at Open M, in Akron, on a regular basis. Help is always needed in the preparation and serving, as well as in food donations before our visit. Please contact the church office for information on upcoming dates.

United Methodist Women (UMW)

The UMW supports missions the help women, children and youth in our area and around the world. The group raises fund for these missions and also meets for social and informational gatherings. Dates, times and activities vary, so please call the church office for more information.

Little Free LIbrary

We have a Little Free Library by our Education Wing entrance. The mission of Little Free Libraries is to promote literacy and the love of reading. There are books for all ages. You are welcome to take a book and/or leave a book.

Mission Trips

Summer mission trips are planned to help communities and individuals in need. Recent trips have been to the Nehemiah Mission in Cleveland and the Sower Mission in southern Ohio. Please contact the church office to see what plans are being made for this summer.

Missions Fair

Through the Missions Fair, the Missions Committee provides a variety of opportunities in the weeks after Thanksgiving to find a mission that individuals or groups can support. The Fair provides a place to shop for unique gifts of mission projects to support in someone’s name, for those hard to shop for people in your life!

Collections

We have on-going collections for Good Neighbors, Mop Buckets, the Battered Women’s Shelter and many other organizations. Mother’s and Father’s Day collections offer the opportunity to give monetary donations to specific missions in honor of parents.
